Top Trends from RHS Tatton 2022

Following the success of RHS Chelsea, RHS Tatton Flower Show was the place to be last week!

If you missed out on the fun, we’ve got you covered. From fabulous garden displays and wonderful awards to perfect plants to grow in your garden, there was a whole host of exciting things to see and do. Let’s dive in.

Garden Themes

There was a huge focus on sustainability and green gardening this year. With a majority of the gardens themed towards green living, it’s providing oodles of inspiration for your displays, whether it be for autumn or next year!

Here are just a few of people’s favourites from Tatton.

After a competition asking local listeners of BBC Radio stations to send in their dream garden designs for Tatton, the RHS and BBC Local Radio Planet-Friendly Garden allowed three amateur gardeners to recreate what the North-West means to them.

Wirral coastline, a lock side garden in Chester, and a local park in Lancashire are their inspirations, providing the perfect picks to include in your sustainable displays.

Working from Home Habitats

A huge theme from this year’s Tatton is the aim to reduce our carbon footprint by working from home as often as we can. What’s better than working at your kitchen table? Working from your perfectly manicured garden of course!

Filling your beds with carbon-busting blooms and pollinator favourites is the best way to grow an impressive sustainable display. Pip Probert's ‘Why Commute?’ garden and Christine Leung’s ‘Could Car Less’ provides creative ways to incorporate function and flowers to suit any size garden!

Fabulous Front Gardens

Need some ideas for your front gardens? Whatever the size of your space, several gardeners at Tatton have showcased their favourite ways to decorate their front porches, walkways, and containers.

Christine Leung’s ‘Could Car Less’, Julie Dunn’s ‘Paradise Retained’ and Lynn Cordall’s ‘The Cotton Traders Greener Future Garden’ are just a few examples of outstanding front garden displays featured at Tatton this year, which you can explore  here
