Product Description

Pear Lilliput is a perfect miniature tree that is great for planting onto patios. Though compact in habit, this ornamental pear tree variety will produce an impressive harvest of fully-sized, sweetly flavoured fruits, similar in characteristics to those of the Conference Pear. They require more warmth and light than apple trees, the Pear Lilliput should be planted in sheltered positions away from frost pockets to ensure optimum quality of fruit. The pears are a delicious variety that can enjoyed on their own or stewed with other traditional fruits to make pies or crumbles. It also boasts a statuesquely columnar, upright habit making it the perfect feature plant for gardens or patios with limited space. This superb specimen is also self-fertile meaning that it can produce fruits all by itself, making it the perfect choice for experienced and amateur gardeners alike. 1.5 litre pot plant supplied.

Growing at a glance…

Young trees must be watered thoroughly and sprinkle with fertilizer each spring. You can also mulch in April with rotted manure or compost around the base of the trunk. They should be planted in well sheltered locations.Suitable for planting in most types of moderately fertile, well drained soil, although they do not like acid soil. If possible prepare the ground some time in advance of planting. Open out holes and plant with enough space to accommodate the roots without cramping them. Plant in a sunny location as they do not prosper too well in the shade. Begin weed control prior to planting and keep a clean ring around the plant (with a radius of approx 24inches). The midget variety are ideal forcontainers, perfect for patio fruit.
