With its highly fragrant double blooms of delicate, ruffled petals which merge into a deep golden centre, this cheerful floribunda certainly lives up to its name. Deserving winner of the Rose of the Year Award 2010, 'Absolutely Fabulous', also known as the 'Julia Child' Rose, has a repeat flowering habit and excellent disease resistance, making it an unbeatable choice for the summer border. This superb variety flowers from June to September, each stem producing glossy, dark green foliage and a profusion of sweetly fragranced blooms. We recommend planting 'Absolutely Fabulous' in a pot or border near a patio or path where its delicate aroma can be fully appreciated. We supply only top quality two year old rose bushes, bare rooted and wrapped to prevent roots drying out, which are then pruned back ready to be planted on arrival. Absolutely Fabulous is also a firm favourite of the British florist, so we recommend that, instead of dead-heading, the budding stems are simply cut back and the flowers enjoyed in a vase indoors or in a colourful bouquet.

Pruning

Roses can be pruned at the end of march/early April.

It is best to plant roses in winter or early spring, provided there is little frost. To plant, dig a hole large enough to take the roots when fully outspread. Distribute the roots evenly around the hole and put in a little fine soil to which has been added a small amount of bonemeal. Fill in a further 5cm of ordinary soil over the roots and tread in firmly. Generally speaking the depth of planting roses will vary between 10-20cm, but examination of the plants should let you know quite clearly the depth to plant.
It is vital that roses are planted firmly, to ensure that winds will not damage or disrupt the roots. Apply a balanced fertiliser every 3-4 weeks in the spring/summer and it is also recommended that you apply a mulch in the winter for protection. Can be pruned back to remove any dead wood or growth.
