Product Description

Rose 'Blue Moon' is an exquisite Hybrid Tea variety that has lilac-mauve petals and stands atop long, elegant stems reaching a mature height of 90cm. These wonderful flowers have the added bonus of being fragrant and so we recommend planting where they can be enjoyed such as the garden border or patio containers. They are also a favourite with florists as they are an excellent cut-flower and make a marvellous display to be enjoyed within the home or given as a gift. We recommend planting in rich, fertile soil in sunny or partially shaded locations for optimum results. The flowers will appear from June through to September and will require pruning from mid-March dependant on frost. We supply only top quality bare rooted rose bushes. Please note: Fragrant rose's perfume is usually the most potent on warm, sunny days, while sat in moist soil. Its important to imitate these conditions, as it will release the fragrant chemicals within the flowers. High humidity increases the longevity of the fragrance as it reduces the chance of the chemicals evaporating.

Growing at a glance…

Roses should be planted firmly, to ensure that wind will not disrupt the roots. Apply a balanced fertiliser every 3-4 weeks in the spring/summer, and apply a mulch in the winter for protection. It is best to plant roses in winter or early spring, provided there is little frost. To prepare your bare rose roots, soak them in a bucket of water for an hour to 24 hours (longer in spring). Then, dig a hole large enough to house the roots when fully outspread. Distribute the roots evenly around the hole and put in a little bit of fine soil to which has been added a small amount of bonemeal. Fill in with the rest of the soil over the roots and tread in firmly. The depth of planting roses will vary between 10-20cm, or as deep as they were in their pots. Our HT roses are supplied roughly pruned. To keep them healthy, prune stems at a 45 angle, taking off any dead wood or growth.
