Sweet Pea Winston Churchill is delicately scented, perfect for your late spring to summer displays. Produces bright red flowers in wiry stems, ideal for your cutting gardens. Will attract pollinators aplenty, too!

Planting Sow seeds indoors at a depth of 1cm and outdoors at a depth of 2.5cm
Soil Type Moist but well-drained soil

Growing at a glance…

Start seeds undercover in pots, thinning to individual plants when large enough (5-7cm). To plant, cover seeds with an inch of soil. Soaking seeds in water overnight can aid germination, although this is not essential. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Pinch the top of the growing shoot out when 2 inches high to encourage stronger side shoots. Transplant when young seedlings are about 2-3cm once the danger of frost has passed. Space 15-30cm apart. Provide netting or a trellis for support when plant is 10-15cm tall. Do not ingest seeds as they are toxic.
