Product Description

Tulip ‘Caractère’ creates a clear, upright presence in spring borders. Bold in colour yet refined in form, Tulipa ‘Caractère’ produces rich golden-yellow, cup-shaped flowers that open fully in sunlight, holding a strong, consistent tone that stands out cleanly against fresh green foliage.

Reaching around 40-50 cm in height, this Triumph Tulip forms sturdy stems that hold well in changeable spring conditions. Flowering through April and May, it extends the Tulip season, bridging earlier species and later double or speciality forms. It performs best in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, though it will tolerate light, open shade.

Its upright habit and saturated colour work effectively with companions such as Narcissi, Alliums and Brunnera macrophylla, alongside spring planting in cooler blues, purples and whites, where it provides definition and contrast without visual clutter.

Growing at a glance…

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, before any frost. Find an area of soil that is well-drained and moist and plant your bulbs at twice their depth and spaced apart by 10-15cm. Ensure they are properly covered, you should not be able to see them on the surface of the soil. Position in an area that you know receives plenty of sunlight but is also sheltered from harsh winds. Deadhead the flowers once they wilt, encouraging a healthier plant.
