Product Description

Tulip 'Johan Cruijff' brings a refined elegance to spring borders. Its blooms open yellowy-cream and gradually mature to a soft creamy white with a subtle champagne-pink blush. With an upright habit and broadly lance-shaped dark green foliage, this Tulip provides a striking vertical accent that complements both structured and informal garden designs.

Flowering from April to May, ‘Johan Cruijff’ reaches an ultimate height of around 50 cm, creating a graceful presence without overwhelming neighbouring plants. Its well-proportioned spread of up to 50 cm allows it to form airy drifts or accentuate architectural planting schemes, while the delicate contrast of its pale blooms against rich foliage adds textural interest.

Thriving in full sun or partial shade, 'Johan Cruijff' prefers moist but well-drained soils. It harmonises beautifully with late-spring companions such as forget-me-nots, Alliums and Dwarf Daffodils, enhancing layered colour effects while sustaining garden continuity into the early summer months.

Growing at a glance…

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, before any frost. Find an area of soil that is well-drained and moist and plant your bulbs at twice their depth and spaced apart by 10-15cm. Ensure they are properly covered, you should not be able to see them on the surface of the soil. Position in an area that you know receives plenty of sunlight but is also sheltered from harsh winds. Deadhead the flowers once they wilt, encouraging a healthier plant.
