Zantedeschia Black Star

Zantedeschia Black Star

OUT OF STOCK
Near black this is the deepest coloured Calla Lily available. Zantedeschia Black Star boasts dramatic deep maroon spathes standing on dark tube like stems, surrounded by bright green wavy foliage speckled with white. Native to the hot and humid climates of South Africa, the Calla Lily is mostly found by lakes in moist soils, therefore prefers well-drained soil in a full or half sun location. Calla Lilies are dramatic additions to outdoor gardens with their distinctive funnel-shaped blossoms, but also make excellent cut flowers. We recommend accompanying them with low-growing plants to provide filling foliage over the base areas and covering up those thin stems. Anything that provides fullness and has a shallow root system serves best as a Calla companion, such as New Guinea Impatiens, Astilbes or Hydrangeas. Pictured here with Zantedeschia albomaculata. Exhibition quality 16cm+ tubers supplied. Flowers May to October. Height 60cm.
