‘Impressive’ is an appropriate name for this Gladiolus nanus - its vibrant salmon-pink blooms boldly marked with magenta create a striking, painterly display that instantly draws the eye. Its slender spikes reach around 50 cm, rising above narrow, sword-like foliage to provide elegant vertical structure in borders or containers.
Flowering from May through July, ‘Impressive’ thrives in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil. Its compact, upright habit ensures the tall, vivid spikes stand strong without overpowering neighbouring plants, making it ideal for the front or middle of beds and mixed planting schemes.
The warm pink and magenta hues combine beautifully with cooler blues, lavenders or soft whites to create contrast or harmony. We suggest combining ‘Impressive’ with Salvia, Nepeta or light Asters for an airy mixed border, or weave through ornamental grasses and low-growing perennials to emphasise the vertical spikes while adding seasonal texture.

Growing at a glance…
Plant gladioli about 10-15cm deep and about 10-15cm apart, in fertile/well drained soil in autumn. When planting in a heavy soil, place some sand underneath each corm to help with drainage. You can water regularly as the growth begins to appear and you can dead head when flowers begin to die off, though make sure to leave foliage to grow throughout the summer.
