Product Description
Acer Bloodgood (Japanese Maple) is one of the fastest growing purple-leaved varieties available. It boasts a tall, upright habit and can grow to a height and spread of up to 4-5m. Bloodgood has deeply cut, dark red-purple leaves that turn bright red in autumn. In spring the leaves are finer, more feathery and dotted with tiny purple-red spring flowers, which are followed by tiny red fruits. We recommend trying Acer Bloodgood as a focal point in a small, contemporary or minimalist garden, where the intensity of the autumn colour can really stand out. It needs a sheltered spot, away from strong winds Winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit 1993. 2 Litre pot plants supplied.

Growing at a glance…
Acers should be watered on a regular basis, which will be even more important in hot Summers. Although its not necessary, you can prune back or cut dead wood in Spring. Plant in fertile, well drained and moist soil. Acer shrubs prefer sunny or partial shaded areas, and can also be grown in pots. If growing in pots make sure that the pot is large enough to support the shrub and that it also has plenty of drainageholes. Use John Innes compost if planting in pots.
