Product Description

Introduce a touch of sophistication to your garden with Alcea ‘Crème de Cassis’, a refined hollyhock bearing soft, dusky-pink double blooms flushed with plum tones. Flowering from June to September, its elegant spires rise impressively, adding height and subtle colour to summer borders.

Reaching upwards of 2 metres, this variety stands tall at the back of borders, where its broad, lobed foliage forms a lush base and its blooms draw in bees and butterflies. The statuesque stems benefit from sheltered positions or discreet support to maintain their vertical poise.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, ‘Crème de Cassis’ also performs well in large containers with a stable, loam-based compost. Pair it with deep purples or soft whites to create a harmonious, layered display that showcases its refined palette.

Growing at a glance…

Water Alcea freely during the growing season and deadhead as necessary to help prolong growth. They are suitable for planting in all types of well drained garden soil, and work best once planted in a sunny or lightly shaded location. To plant loose roots, soak them in a bucket of water for 1-3 hours before planting, then dig a hole in the border that’s big enough to house the root system. Firm in gently and water well.
