Planting Notes

Soil Type Well drained, moist soil

Growing at a glance…

To plant loose rooted aquilegia, start by soaking the roots in a bucket of water for 1-2 hours beforehand. Then, dig a hole in the border that’s big enough to house the root system. If you’re planting them in pots, then fill a large pot halfway with soil, adding the crown of the plant pointing upwards. Ensure the crown is just below the soil. Water well once planted. Once established, they shouldn't need regular watering - unless there's a prolonged drought. Deadhead spent flowers to keep the plant nice and neat.
