Product Description

Enjoy fresh asparagus year after year with this Asparagus Collection. Asparagus is best established from crowns - dormant, one-year-old root systems - offering a quicker and often more dependable alternative to seed. Once planted into well-prepared, free-draining soil, they settle in quickly and typically reach a light harvest stage in around two years, continuing to crop for many seasons thereafter.

The Asparagus Collection includes three complementary varieties: 'Erasmus', a purple type with a naturally sweeter flavour, 'Gijnlim', an early, high-yielding green known for its uniform spears, and 'Herkolim', a vigorous variety suited to producing classic white asparagus when blanched. Together, they provide a balanced mix of colour, flavour and consistent performance.

With long-term productivity and seasonal appeal, the varieties in this Asparagus Collection make a rewarding perennial feature for any garden, providing reliable harvests each spring.

Soil Type Fertile, well drained soil

Growing at a glance…

Prepare your Asparagus beds in advance, and incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve soil structure and fertility. On cold, wet soils the addition of sharp sand or grit will help to improve drainage. Water on a regular basis during hot spells, to ensure they don't dry out. Weed beds by hand as the shallow roots could get damaged by hoeing. Feed with a general fertiliser at the end of March. In autumn cut back the yellowing foliage.
