Product Description

A cascade of rich carmine‑red blooms gives Gladiolus nanus ‘Robinetta’ remarkable presence in summer borders and patio containers. Rounded flowers with subtle darker veining are borne along upright stems above a neat fan of narrow, sword‑shaped foliage. Flowering from June onwards, it creates a bold but refined vertical accent that stands out without heaviness.

 

‘Robinetta’ thrives in full sun with well‑drained, fertile soil, forming a tidy clump that typically reaches around 55 cm tall. This balanced stature and consistent bloom set make it especially suited to the front or middle of beds, where its depth of colour brings intensity to planting schemes.

 

With its vivid red hues, ‘Robinetta’ pairs exceptionally well with cool blues and pale yellows for striking contrast, or with soft pinks for a richer, layered palette. Combine with Salvia, Nepeta or Veronica for an eye‑catching mixed border, or weave through low‑growing grasses and perennials to highlight both colour and form through the season.

Growing at a glance…

Plant gladioli about 10-15cm deep and about 10-15cm apart, in fertile/well drained soil in autumn or spring. When planting in a heavy soil, place some sand underneath each corm to help with drainage.You can water regularly as the growth begins to appear and you can dead head when flowers begin to die off, though make sure to leave foliage to grow throughout the summer. In late autumn when frosty and cold nights are likely to return, you should lift and dry the corms and store over the winter in a frost free shed/garage until ready to plant again next year.
