Product Description
Perfect for smaller gardens, Hydrangea serrata ‘Magic Pillow’ is a compact, mound-forming shrub that reaches just 50 cm in height with a spread of up to a metre. Its neat, low-growing habit makes it an excellent choice for front-of-border planting, containers and ground cover in lightly shaded areas.
From July to September, flat lacecap flowerheads appear across the plant in shades of blue or pink, depending on soil conditions. The blooms sit above finely serrated dark-green foliage, creating a soft, natural look that brings colour and texture to the garden throughout summer.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, ‘Magic Pillow’ thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. As the season draws to a close, the foliage develops attractive red and purple tones, providing a second display of colour in autumn. We recommend pairing it with Hosta, Heuchera and Ferns, as the contrasting foliage textures complement its delicate flowers and compact form.

Their long-life flowers and versatility make then suitable for anygarden of any size.Hydrangeas can be grown in fertile, well drained soil and often prefer a shady location. It is also worth thinking about how much exposure the area you wish to plant them in will have towards strong winds, as they can often limit new growth inspring. Make sure that the hydrangea receives lots of water when the summer comes. Hydrangeas are very low maintenance and will need little pruning, but can be done in spring as new shoots appear.
