Harrogate Flower Show 2026 - Our First Visit to the Great Yorkshire Showground

This year marked the very first time exhibiting for J. Parker’s at the wonderful Harrogate Flower Show - and what an incredible experience it was.

As the first major English flower show of the gardening calendar, the event brought together an estimated 40,000 visitors across the stunning Great Yorkshire Showground, creating a vibrant celebration of plants, gardening and outdoor living. From inspiring garden displays and bustling trade stands to insightful talks, the atmosphere throughout the show was full of excitement.

And, of course, the sunshine made it even more special.

Meeting gardeners face to face

One of the biggest highlights for us was having the opportunity to meet so many of our customers in person - both familiar faces and brand-new visitors discovering us for the first time.

There’s something truly rewarding about chatting plants with fellow gardeners face to face, hearing their gardening stories, discussing favourite varieties, and helping people choose the perfect plants for their spaces. The level of enthusiasm shown at the show was fantastic to see and reminded us exactly why events like these are so important for the gardening community.

Inspiring talks at the Human Gardener Stage

Another standout feature of the show was The Human Gardener Stage, designed beautifully by Sarah Owen Hughes and Faith Douglas. Not only did the space look incredible, but it also hosted a brilliant range of informative and inspiring talks throughout the event.

A particular favourite for us was fellow Manchester gardener Jason Williams, also known as The Cloud Gardener. His session brought a wealth of experience, practical advice, and clever ideas for urban gardeners looking to make the most of their growing spaces. His passion for gardening and approachable style made for a genuinely engaging talk.

Sunshine, plants & show atmosphere

The weather certainly played its part across the show, with glorious sunshine helping create a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish. Gardeners do love a bit of sunshine, after all.

The quality of plants on display throughout the event was also breathtaking. From specialist growers to large exhibitors, the standard across the show was exceptional. For us, one of the best aspects of flower shows like Harrogate is being able to bring our plants directly to people - allowing visitors to see the quality, colour, and variety for themselves.

A warm welcome

As first-time exhibitors at the show, we were also incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we received from the organisers and event team. From setup through to the final day, everyone made us feel genuinely appreciated and supported, helping make the whole experience an enjoyable one for our team.

Our top 5 selling plants at the show

Some plants certainly proved especially popular with visitors over the weekend. Our top-selling varieties included:

• Phormium ‘Sundowner’ - Striking architectural foliage plant with bold green leaves edged in bronze-red, ideal for adding year-round structure and colour contrast.
• Senecio ‘Angel’s Wings’ - Soft, silvery-white foliage with a velvety texture, perfect for containers and adding a dramatic, tactile focal point.
• Dahlia Collarette Mix - Cheerful, free-flowering dahlias producing single blooms with distinctive collar-like centres, attracting pollinators throughout summer.
• Agapanthus ‘Twister’ - Eye-catching variety with bi-coloured blooms in white and deep blue, creating a strong visual impact in pots or borders.
• Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Garnet’ - Elegant, finely cut Japanese maple with deep red foliage that holds its colour well through the season, ideal for focal planting or containers.

Reflecting on a great show

“It was lovely to have been a part of the Harrogate Flower Show this year, getting the chance to meet customers face to face and discuss plants with them. Seeing their passion for gardening is a real plus for me, with many visitors sharing their own gardening stories.”
- Edward Doherty, Offline Marketing Manager

It was a fantastic first experience for us at the Harrogate Flower Show, and we’re already looking forward to returning in the future. Events like this are a great reminder of the joy that gardening brings and the value of meeting customers in person.

Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and helped make the show such a memorable weekend.
