The very first RHS Urban Show was this weekend, and we had a whale of a time. With plenty of plants to shop, stalls to explore, and live talks and tutorials to watch, the whole weekend was a whirlwind.

The Very First RHS Urban Show

The show was a huge success, seeing large numbers of the public pass through each day. Celebrating growing your own oasis in the comfort of your home, this new immersive gardening experience was exactly everything promised.

We were excited to be included in this debut gardening show, situated in the Heart of Manchester – just down the road from our headquarters. Since our establishment in 1933, this city has been our home, and to experience yet another first was a privilege.

A New Age of Gardening

This show shines a direct light on urban gardening. Filling green spaces in towns and cities to addressing the challenges that come with them was addressed throughout the weekend, helping city dwellers make the most of their spaces – both inside and out.

Instead of large sprawling border displays, indoor house plant showcases, and brand-new technology took the spotlight.

Trending Plants at the RHS Urban Show

Of course, houseplants were one of the highlights of the show. But that’s not all! The Cloud Gardener (AKA Jason Williams) created planters that are perfect for balconies, with north, south, east, and west-facing properties all considered.
