Scabiosa
Brightening up your outdoor space from June right through until the first frosts in Autumn, scabiosa’s dainty, pin cushion flowers are great for wildlife gardens – attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators. They can create height and interest in city & courtyard gardens, wildflower meadows and patio containers too. You might also call them scabious.
Available from J.Parker’s in a wide range of colours and shades – from bright pinks and purples, to soft pastels blues and yellows – scabiosa are a solid choice for adding season-spanning colour to your garden. Some scabiosa/scabious are annuals, but the ones you see here are all hardy perennials, so they’ll be back again next summer.
Scabiosa ‘Perfecta Blue’ is a compact plant with vibrant blue flowers – great for adding colour into pots or the front of a border. And Scabiosa ‘Ochroleuca’ is a large, soft-yellow variety (unusual for scabiosa/scabious – they’re typically available in shades of white, blue and purply-pinks). Both are great as cut flowers in indoor arrangements too.
