Product Description
Literally translated as ‘Autumn Sun’, Rudbeckia laciniata ‘Herbstsonne’ is a tall, late-summer perennial that produces large golden-yellow daisy flowers. The blooms carry a soft greenish cone at the centre and rise well above deeply divided foliage, creating a bold architectural presence at the back of the border.
A vigorous, clump-forming herbaceous perennial, 'Herbstsonne' typically reaches around 2 metres in height with a similar spread. Flowering from midsummer into early autumn, it performs best in fertile, moisture-retentive soil in full sun or light dappled shade, where moisture levels remain consistent through the growing season.
Well-suited to prairie-style and informal planting schemes, it pairs effectively with ornamental grasses, Helenium, Echinacea and Verbena bonariensis, where its height and structure add vertical impact among softer forms. It also works well as a seasonal backdrop in larger mixed borders, where its late flowering extends colour into autumn.
