Growing at a glance…
Ensure growing soil has decent drainage and is high in humus to ensure the ground will not dry too quickly. Sow in mid to late spring under cover in seedling pots, around 1cm deep. Keep the air warm as it germinates to quicken the process. Harden off before planting out. Sweet corn gets the best results when planted in blocks, not as a single row. This ensures good pollination. Cover any roots that appear at the base with mulch or old compost to retain moisture. Do not let this crop dry out.
