Product Description

Tulip ‘Bombastic Red’ bursts into bloom in late spring, making a dramatic statement with exceptionally large, fully double flowers in rich reds. The lavish layers of petals form peony‑like heads that rise above glossy green foliage, giving beds, borders and containers an impressive, sculptural presence. These substantial blooms also make a bold choice for cutting, bringing late‑season colour indoors.

Forming a neat, upright clump, this Double Late tulip reaches around 35 cm tall with a spread of about 15 cm, holding each generous flower proudly above its foliage. Its robust habit and impressive flower size ensure it stands out wherever it is planted.

‘Bombastic Red’ pairs beautifully with deep blues and purples to heighten its fiery impact, or creamy whites to balance its intensity. In mixed late-spring schemes, it combines well with early forget‑me‑nots and softer pastel Tulips, creating layered seasonal interest.

Growing at a glance…

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, before any frost. Find an area of soil that is well-drained and moist and plant your bulbs at twice their depth and spaced apart by 10-15cm. Ensure they are properly covered, you should not be able to see them on the surface of the soil. Position in an area that you know receives plenty of sunlight but is also sheltered from harsh winds. Deadhead the flowers once they wilt, encouraging a healthier plant.
