Product Description

Bring a spectrum of purple shades to your garden with the ever-changing Shirley Embrace Tulip Collection. Shirley starts out as an ivory white to slightly yellow colour, with a delicate purple margin which spreads and fades into a purple-pink blush all over. Attila begins life as a rich violet in spring, turning a reddish-purple and combining tones of pink and rose, which highlight the flower perfectly. Both perfectly formed cup-shaped blooms sit atop tall grey-green stems, adorned with lance-shaped foliage. These special cultivars bring constant interest to your garden, as they always seem to be changing. We recommend creating a mixed display of Attila and Shirley, as the pale lavender shades of Shirley really bring out the richness of Attila. Plant bulbs pointy side up, 15cm deep and water well. The collection includes 10 each of Shirley and Attila.

Growing at a glance…

Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, before any frost. Find an area of soil that is well-drained and moist and plant your bulbs at twice their depth and spaced apart by 10-15cm. Ensure they are properly covered, you should not be able to see them on the surface of the soil. Position in an area that you know receives plenty of sunlight but is also sheltered from harsh winds. Deadhead the flowers once they wilt, encouraging a healthier plant.
