When to Plant

Garden ready Begonias can be planted out as soon as they arrive in the post, as long as all threat of frost has passed. If you receive a Begonia tuber, these can be planted outside from March to April.

How to Plant

Begonia plugs are incredibly easy to plant and grow. This Begonia comes as a garden ready plug, which means it's in the perfect shape to plant directly outside on arrival. Dig a hole wide enough for the plug and cover with soil and water well. Perfect for planting in containers, especially hanging baskets!

Where to Plant

This Begonia is perfect for planting anywhere in the garden that gets lots of sunlight! This includes beds, containers, and even hanging baskets. Their trailing habit makes it a perfect fit for hanging basket displays, where they will thrive happily in the summer.

After Care

Although they can handle hot weather in the right conditions, Begonias aren't a fan of the cold. Carefully transplant plug plants into containers and put inside over winter. Cover with a garden fleece and keep in a dry, cool place like a garage or shed.

The Origin of Begonias

Begonias are native to areas of Brazil and Mexico, where their half-hardy nature came into play. That being said, they were also found in areas of China throughout the 14th century.
