Dinner Plate Dahlias

Dinner Plate Dahlias are amongst the showiest (and most popular) Dahlias available to gardeners. Known for their large blooms (with flowers reaching 25cm in diameter), we see them performing best towards the back of the border, or grown in pots for portable impact.

Several of the most commonly seen dahlias sit within the dinner plate group. Dahlia Cafe Au Lait is a beautiful variety which offers huge cream coloured flowers, with a subtle peach centre. In contrast, Dahlia Black Jack produces striking deep burgundy flowers, which are sure to provide a spectacle in any garden. We recommend you stake your dahlia plants as early as possible, ensuring that the stems are tied in regularly to enhance support. Important with all types of dahlia, but particularly dinner plate and decorative dahlia types, due to their sizeable blooms.

To prolong their flowering period, we recommend deadheading dahlias regularly - dinner plate dahlias are fantastic when used for cutting.
