Coronilla 'Citrina', also known as Coronilla valentina subsp. glauca 'Citrina', brightens the garden from late winter into spring with clusters of fragrant, lemon-yellow flowers. Set against blue-grey, pinnate foliage, the rounded blooms create a warm contrast, while its evergreen habit ensures the finely divided leaves remain a feature beyond the main flowering period.
Reaching around a metre in height and spread, this bushy shrub develops a naturally rounded habit that suits wall-side borders. It favours full sun and sheltered conditions, growing in moist but well-drained soils. The cool blue-grey foliage provides a distinctive contrast to the warmer tones of its flowers.
The lemon-yellow blooms and silvery foliage work particularly well alongside plants with contrasting colour and form. Euphorbia provides architectural shapes and fresh green tones, while Lavandula adds silvery foliage and purple flowers.
