This curious Crocosmia boasts crimson splashed bright orange funnel-shaped flowers in double rows along the top of slightly arching racemes. A showy bulbous perennial with sword-shaped mid-green leaves, the Crocosmia Emily McKenzie is ideal forplanting in bold swathes through the border, and makes an impact. Remarkably easy to grow and hardy, the Crocosmia is a popular plant. Its tall upright habit makes it the perfect partner for many flowering grasses. Flowers June to September. Crocosmia are best planted in fertile, well-drained soil in the spring. They can tolerate full sun or partial shade, and best planted in groups. Ideal for border or containers. Take some precaution in the winter to help protect the bulbs (for example apply a mulch annually) and water freely to assist in the growth.
