Worsley Care Home Project Update

Team Parker’s and  NorthCare have been working hard to get our newest project, the Worsley Maple Care Centre gardens, to live up to its full potential.

About the Project

If you missed our last update on this year’s charity project, you can refresh your mind  here.

Working hand in hand with Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, our team is helping rejuvenate the garden of a local care home in Worsley. The Maples is a care home dedicated to helping those with Neurological conditions, giving year-round care to those in need.

With three sections of gardens that need a bit of TLC, our teams have got stuck in! Let’s check in and see where they’re up to...

The Front Garden

So far, our combined forces have been working on the gardens section by section, starting with the front garden.

The vision for this area was to create a bright and cheerful spot that can help patients and their family members relax and be at one with nature.

First things first, their fence was removed as it had started to rot. This was replaced by a hand-made fence structure that will (hopefully!) last them for years to come. On this particular day, the team also jet washed the pavement slabs, removing years of grime.

Getting Started on the Fencing

In May, our second session at The Maples was spent deconstructing their existing gazebo and rebuilding a brand-new sheltered area for all to enjoy. Jet washing and creating planters were also a focus, helping them grow their favourite blooms and greenery for year-round interest.

Toward the end of May, both teams met once again to finish up big jobs like the gazebo, putting together garden furniture, and finishing the jet wash job on the garden slabs.

In just three sessions, the front garden is looking lovely! Time to move on to the back garden and Japanese gardens. Watch this space for future updates...
