Our Favourite Summer Bedding Plants

Bedding plants are great for adding that instant interest to your seasonal displays. They're easy to grow, amazingly affordable, and will certainly pack a punch in your garden - wherever they're planted.

These seasonal plants are considered the best plants to grow if you're on a budget or are a beginner to all things gardening! To give you some inspiration, here's just a few of our favourite summer bedding plants for you to know and grow.

Begonias

Begonias are some of the most popular bedding plants on the market. It might be because they give you plenty of blooms for your buck, or maybe because they look perfectly at home in a medium to large patio pot. Whatever it is, they certainly do the trick. Here's a few of our favourite begonias to grow this summer.

Also known as pinks, dianthus blooms are perfect for both patio pots and hanging baskets, thanks to their versatile size. Giving colour for literally months on end, you'll definitely have a soft spot for these attractive bedding blooms. Here's a few of our favourite garden pinks to grow this summer.

Calibrachoa (million bells)

Calibrachoa, also known as million bells or super bells, produce masses of bell-shaped flowers in a whole range of striking summery colours! These plants are very similar in shape to a petunia, and it's easy to get them confused. However, their trailing habit makes a few of these blooms a favourite in many gardener's eyes.

Petunias & Surfinia

Petunias and surfinias are certainly one of the most iconic bedding plants on the market. If you happen by a hanging basket when out and about, it's almost guaranteed to have some petunias in it. And for good reason! These vibrant flowers are versatile, allowing you to grow them in containers, baskets, and in a flower bed as ground cover.

Fuchias

Versatility seems to be a trend among bedding plants, and it rings true for Fuchsias too. Whether you decide to grow them in hanging baskets, containers, or in flower beds, these plants will deliver an impressive amount of nodding-bell blooms throughout summer. They'll even attract pollinators aplenty, giving you an extra incentive to know and grow fuchsias.
